Prepaid services and a Hotlining functionality is no longer exclusive to operators planning to implement equipment based on the well-specified network model for WiMAX 16e.

With the help of the

Aptilo WiMAX Prepaid

Aptilo WiMAX Prepaid and

Aptilo WiMAX Hotlining

Aptilo WiMAX Hotlining modules together with the

Aptilo Access Controller™

Aptilo Access Controller™, a prepaid subscription model and Hotlining support can be implemented in a kind of “16e-like services over fixed-WiMAX” fashion. This will facilitate e.g. a volume-based billing model for operators with a limited or expensive Internet backhaul as well as catering for ad-hoc user scenarios.

Aptilo WiMAX AAA+ Core gives you more

ASN Gateway functionality using the Aptilo Access Controller

ASN Gateway functionality using the Aptilo Access Controller

In WiMAX 16d or pre-WiMAX, no ASN-GW is present in the core network. Instead the Aptilo Access Controller can provide the necessary gateway functionality to enable a prepaid business model to manage and control user sessions in the network and to enforce prepaid service classes.

Advanced QoS and Service Control

Advanced QoS and Service Control: With the Aptilo Access Controller in place, Aptilo’s service profile concept can be applied in order to differentiate e.g. bandwidth for different users and user groups. The automatic bandwidth balancer feature of the Aptilo Access Controller distributes available bandwidth between all active sessions according to the priorities set in the service profiles. A service can be automatically and gradually throttled down to a certain capacity if the prepaid quota has been depleted to a specified level.

Schedules can be applied to differentiate rating and/or bandwidth for different users or user groups at different time-of-day and day-of week. This feature can be crucial in order to better utilize expensive Internet backhaul such as satellite based links. Residential customers can e.g. enjoy lower prices after office hours while businesses users can get an exceptional bandwidth allocation during daytime.

Migration to WiMAX 16e

Migration to WiMAX 16e: Selecting Aptilo for your fixed-WiMAX network will give you a perfect migration into WiMAX 16e services. In fact there is no migration required as the Aptilo platform is access technology agnostic and natively supports all WiMAX standards as wells as Wi-Fi and xDSL.
