Aptilo to Add LTE Policy and Charging Control to Portfolio of Solutions

October 18, 2010/in Carrier Wi-Fi /by Johan Terve

Single Platform for WiMAX, Wi-Fi and Now LTE; Pre-Integrated Approach

4G WORLD – CHICAGO – Aptilo Networks, the global leader in pre-integrated solutions for control of billing, user services and access in wireless networks including WiMAX and Wi-Fi, announced today that the company is adding LTE to its portfolio of service management and policy control solutions for operators.

Aptilo’s new 4G service management platform with LTE support has a purpose-built PCRF (policy charging and rules function) that, unlike traditional solutions, is pre-integrated with optional Aptilo modules for the necessary subsystems that are usually purchased separately such as prepaid systems, subscriber database, WEB portals, statistics and reporting, voucher management and more.

The system boasts a flexible OSS/BSS integration capability with an intelligent database interface, native billing interfaces and APIs enabling next-generation services. With these subsystems already built-in, Aptilo’s LTE solution reduces time-to-market and cost of integration considerably.

Aptilo’s pre-integrated approach with tight integration between the policy (PCRF) and charging functions allow operators to change QoS in real time, and charge online on a per application basis to offer flexible service plans and increase the revenue potential with their 4G data services.

Flexible and Simplified WiMAX-to-LTE Migration Path
Aptilo’s multi-access architecture provides a single, scalable platform to support WiMAX, Wi-Fi and now LTE installations.  This means operators using Aptilo’s WiMAX solution can easily roll out LTE at a later date, preserving investments and positioning them for future growth.

Aptilo’s multi-access architecture also enables seamless service mobility for users going between Wi-Fi, WiMAX and LTE networks.

“As the LTE market grows to include more than just the largest mobile operators, Aptilo is well poised to expand our reach into the ever-changing mobile broadband access market,” said Aptilo CEO Torbjorn Ward. “Aptilo’s holistic approach to service management with tight integration between policy and charging functions has been very successful with our WiMAX customers – from  greenfield deployments using our pre-integrated solution to large operators that require solutions that will seamlessly integrate with existing systems. We now see the same type of requirements also for LTE, and are very pleased to be able to offer this innovative and flexible solution regardless of access technology.”
