Aptilo Once Again Selected for Major Wi-Fi Offload Rollout in Brazil
STOCKHOLM – Aptilo Networks, the leading provider of carrier-class Wi-Fi service management and offloading solutions, announced today that the company has been selected by one of Brazil’s largest operators for Wi-Fi offloading. Aptilo will deliver its carrier-class Wi-Fi service management platform with SIM Authentication for a seamless user experience with automatic and secure login to the Wi-Fi network. The Aptilo solution will, together with the Wi-Fi infrastructure, complement the operator’s 3G network with extended reach and capacity.
Aptilo expects that the deployment will grow quickly as the operator is aggressively building out its Wi-Fi service in public locations. Additionally, the mobile operator is enabling a public SSID via residential Wi-Fi routers, using the available bandwidth left over from home broadband customers – who typically don’t use the full capacity of their connection – for Wi-Fi offloading.
“Fueled by the upcoming World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games, Brazil is one of the fastest growing markets for mobile broadband with mobile data expected to grow 19-fold by 2016,” said Johan Terve, VP Marketing, Aptilo Networks. “We have recently announced our deployment with TIM and are proud to once again have been selected for a large scale Wi-Fi service rollout in Brazil.”
