STOCKHOLM — Malaysian telecom operator TMNet is extending the number of Wi-Fi hotspots in Malaysia. Aptilo Networks has been rewarded with additional orders for further deployment of Wi-Fi services.
For more than two years TMNet has been providing Wi-Fi hotspot services in Malaysia based on technology from Aptilo Networks. The additional orders triple the number of licenses with Aptilo Networks and this is also comprised of an installation for a new service portal. The latter provides TMNet with network monitoring capabilities as well as extensive usage statistics. Aptilo’s service portal has been thoroughly tested and evaluated against competing solutions and TMNet finally settled for the Aptilo solution based on its flexibility.
“TMNet is also looking at Mesh technologies, and a Metro Wireless network based on Aptilo technologies is already in place to cover a part of Kuala Lumpur,” said Jan Sjönell, VP Asia Region Aptilo Networks.
TMNet, recently awarded “Best Wi-Fi Hotspot Operator” by the IT magazine PC.Com, envisages having at least 1,000 Wi-Fi hotspots in operation across Malaysia by the end of 2006.
Now installed with operators and other businesses in more than 30 countries, Aptilo’s solutions allows for sophisticated, centralized administration, authorization checks, and monitoring of entire networks.
