The network utilizes the Motorola Canopy Wireless Broadband System, which uses satellite as the Internet connection out of the islands. Typically, operators must invest in additional, expensive satellite link capacity in order to accommodate increasing bandwidth use. Aptilo’s solution makes this unnecessary and brings a whole new level of flexibility and control to the operation of DigiNET. The Aptilo solution enforces and controls QoS in the network, prioritizing bandwidth according to service levels. This allows Digicel to offer predefined guaranteed bandwidth levels to their enterprise and premium customers, delivering a superior user experience without having to purchase more capacity from the satellite link.
