STOCKHOLM — The Swedish Civil Aviation Administration (LFV) has during a a number of years offered a public Wi-Fi service to the visitors through different service provider partners at various airports in Sweden. LFV has now decided to expand this one step further and has selected HP and Aptilo Networks as suppliers of their next generation Service Management Platform for Visitor Access and Public WLAN services. LFV will further on not only offer their visitors an Internet access service, but also provide tailored information such as arrival/departure times, flight delays and commercial related offerings.
The Visitor Access service will be available at 14 airports throughout Sweden, including Stockholm-Arlanda Airport, from the 1st of July this year.
“Our new system gives us a much better flexibility and possibilities for the airports in total. Besides that the visitors can access the Internet and reach tailor made information, we can e.g. use the system to dispatch working orders to service technicians; or let the Airline companies order services and maintenance in a faster and more efficient way. We expect a much higher efficiency in a number of our processes, which all in some way will benefit our passengers in a positive way,” said Jan Lindqvist, head of information at LFV Arlanda.
Visitor Access can be used by travellers, airline – and handling companies as well as LFV employees. This was one of the key demands in selection of the Service Management Platform.
“Before we selected the Visitor Access solution, we did a very thorough scan of the market, e.g. talking to our colleagues at the Copenhagen Airport in Denmark who uses the same solution and which they are very pleased with. We selected HP and Aptilo Networks as we found that their solution was the most flexible and professional option given our needs,” said Victoria Ström, project manager for WLAN at LFV.
The users can choose between different payment options to access the service, including vouchers, online credit card payment and username/password for LFV roaming partners. LFV has the intention to sign roaming agreements with a number of Service Providers so that visitors can make use of their existing subscriptions and get billed.
“HP Visitor Access is a solution for organizations and enterprises that will offer their guests a temporary Internet Access in an easy, smooth and secure way at the same time as they can provide selected services and information directly to the users. We at HP Sweden are e.g. using Visitor Access at our Swedish head office, and we have also sold this solution to hotels and the airports all over the world, including the Scandic Hotels in Scandinavia. I see great opportunities also for libraries, coffee shops, enterprises, organizations and all other places where many people are passing by and spend some time,” says Dan Lindqvist, Sales Specialist Network & Mobility at HP Sweden.
