Major US Cable MSO Selects Aptilo for Wi-Fi Services Rollout

January 20, 2014/in Carrier Wi-Fi /by Johan Terve

STOCKHOLM – Aptilo Networks, the leading provider of carrier-class Wi-Fi service management and offloading solutions, announced today that the Aptilo Service Management Platform™ (SMP) has been selected by one of the major cable multi system operators (MSO) in the US to enable carrier-class Wi-Fi services.

The MSO will utilize the advanced portal and business-to-business (B2B) service delivery capabilities of the Aptilo SMP to monetize and sell services to multi-dwelling property owners.

The advanced built-in Web portal in Aptilo SMP enables tenants to self-register and manage their own broadband services. A standard service plan is included with the rent and the services will be monetized further through online upgrade options for the tenants such as the ability to add devices and upgrade bandwidth and monthly data volume. These additional services are billed through the recurring credit card-charging feature of the Aptilo SMP.

The first level of management and support of the services will be handled by the property owners through dedicated Web portals with simplified and automated workflows. This will significantly reduce the operational cost for the MSO.

The MSO’s subscribers will also get access to the Wi-Fi service through an additional SSID, a perfect tool for customer retention in the highly competitive broadband market.

“MSOs are adding Wi-Fi at a record pace, leveraging it as a strategic asset to add new subscribers and reduce churn,” said Torbjorn Ward, CEO, Aptilo Networks. “It is also an opportunity for MSOs to sell Wi-Fi capacity to other operators, including mobile operators, for mobile data offloading. This is a tremendous opportunity for Aptilo and our proven Service Management Platform.”

Aptilo’s pre-integrated service management platform, deployed with more than 90 service providers worldwide, provides a better total cost of ownership (TCO) as it offers flexible monetization options for all kinds of business models and also results in significant cost savings.
