New Comprehensive WiMAX Service Management Platform Selected by Nortel for Use in Dominican Republic WiMAX Network Deployment
STOCKHOLM — Aptilo Networks today announced the launch of the new Aptilo WiMAX CSN (Connectivity Service Network) service management platform, the market´s first integrated wireless broadband data and voice services solution for standards compliant Mobile WiMAX AAA and Service Control. Based on the field-proven, feature-rich Aptilo Service Management Platform™, the Aptilo WiMAX CSN Platform™ was specifically designed to give service providers a flexible, cost effective approach to deliver and meet their time to market and time to revenue objectives for small-to-medium initial WiMAX network installations that need support for rapid expansion. The company also announced that the new Aptilo WiMAX CSN Platform has been selected by Nortel for use in Wind Telecom WiMAX network deployment in the Dominican Republic.
Last year when Aptilo joined The WiMAX Forum™ the company announced plans to incorporate the industry-specified standards into its Service Management Platform and Access Controller solutions. The resulting market leading Aptilo WiMAX CSN Platform provides service providers a highly flexible and versatile authentication, authorization, accounting (AAA) and policy management solution for mobile WiMAX network services, with support for pre- and post paid data and Voice over IP (VoIP) services. The integrated data and voice services solution provides authentication, authorization and accounting through multiple authentication types and enforces Quality of Service (QoS) and service flow profile parameters for users, devices and services. Intelligent AAA Proxy functionality in the Aptilo WiMAX CSN Platform allows service providers to manage interactions with multiple external AAA servers and roaming partners while a large multitude of service offerings and combinations of time, volume and price based subscriber accounts cover required business models.

The business support system (BSS) and operational support system (OSS) platforms in the Aptilo WiMAX CSN Platform will form part of the end-to-end WiMAX network solution that Nortel will provide to Wind Telecom in the Dominican Republic. The Wind Telecom network is expected to be commercially available in September 2007 in the initial launch cities of Santo Domingo, Santiago, Puerto Plata and Bavaro/Punta Cana, with other areas such as La Romana, projected for the near future.
